The ‘Contratas y Obras Respect for Animals’ awards have been given in their 18th edition in a public ceremony held at the Casa del Tíbet in Barcelona.
In this edition, the journalists Albert Molins (La Vanguardia), Ruth Toledano (eldiario.es), Concha López (eldiario.es), the web designer Alan Jurgens (La Vanguardia) and the Honorable Territory and Sustainability Counselor of the Generalitat of Catalunya Mr. Josep Rull have been recognized.
The jury has taken into consideration the report ‘Between the price and welfare’, published in ‘La Vanguardia’ and written by the journalist Albert Molins – accompanied by the infography of Alan Jurgens – as the most aligned with the foundations of the ‘Respect for Animals’ Awards.
In the same way, the jury has also considered the merits of the article ‘Carmen: drama of a cow in four acts’, written by the journalist Ruth Toledano and published in the media ‘eldiario.es’, as well as ‘What happens with the dogs with which the future veterinarians practice?’ of Concha López also published in the ‘eldiario.es’.
In a special way, the jury of the awards ‘Contratas y Obras Respect for Animals’ has recognized the professional and personal career of the Honorable Territory and Sustainability Counselor of the Generalitat of Catalunya Mr. Josep Rull, for the effects and repercussions that his work had in the field of the protection of animal rights, in particular, the Law of Animal Protection of Catalonia, of which Mr. Rull was rapporteur.
The ‘Contratas y Obras Respect for Animals’ awards have been recognizing for 18 years now the work of journalists, organizations and public figures in defence of the rights of animals for human consumption.
